On Its Place, 2016

Multimedia project: video, photo, work with the archive.

Created for the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, this site-specific installation responds to the building’s architecture, history, and the memories of those who inhabit it. Integrating reflective surfaces into the existing interior, the work incorporates audiovisual elements based on interviews with researchers and staff, weaving personal recollections into the fabric of the institution. Rather than presenting the Institute as a static place of knowledge, the installation reveals it as a living environment shaped by everyday encounters and accumulated memory. As viewers move through the space, reflections, voices, and architectural elements overlap, creating an immersive experience that blurs the boundaries between individual and collective memory. The work invites a renewed perception of the Academy as a site animated not only by ideas, but also by the people whose lives continue to define it.
