House of Shadows
Site-specific kinetic shadow installation, commissioned by the Setouchi Triennale, Japan, 2025
The installation occupies an entire abandoned house. Each room contains different objects: wooden sculptures and painted plastic sheets. As the objects slowly rotate, they cast shifting shadows onto cloth and paper. Dreamlike sounds accompany this movement: lullabies collected from the islanders intertwine with bird songs recorded on the island. The installation invites visitors into a space of collective lucid dreaming, a space suspended between the landscape of the remote island of Honjima and the inner landscapes imagined by those who enter.
