House of Shadows (2025)
Site-specific kinetic shadow installation, variable dimensions.
Commissioned by the Setouchi Triennale, Japan
House of Shadows unfolds throughout an abandoned house, transforming each room into a distinct environment of light, movement, and memory. Wooden sculptures and painted plastic sheets slowly rotate, casting shifting shadows onto cloth and paper. Their quiet choreography is accompanied by a dreamlike soundscape in which lullabies collected from the island's residents intertwine with sounds recorded on Honjima. Together, these elements create an immersive experience that is both intimate and atmospheric. The installation invites visitors into a space of collective lucid dreaming, suspended between the physical landscape of the remote island of Honjima and the inner landscapes imagined by those who enter. As light, shadow, sound, and movement continuously reshape the space, the house becomes a place where memory and imagination gently overlap, encouraging visitors to wander through its rooms and compose their own narratives from the shifting traces they encounter.
